1) I received the following message : -error reading registry
2) Will not recognize USB keyboard or mouse.
3) I have managed to bypass the reg problem by importing the registry file from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. All that remains is to patch the cd-check problem.

Download Application Compatibility Toolkit: http://msdn.microsoft.com/compatibility/ X-COM UFO Defense Gold Edition (Windows 95) Use QfixApp on UFO.exe and click "ForceDdrawEmulation.dll" Click the "Advanced" tab. Then click "Create attributes file". Then go to the AppPatch folder in the Windows folder and click on UFO.reg Now all you have to do is run the game like normal from the Shortcut! Reinstall this .reg if you reinstall windows!

Installs and runs fine with the fixes included in ACT 3.0 (Application Compatibility Toolkit). That was with the v1.2 patch for the game, and running in Direct3D mode on a GeForce4Ti card (I didn't try without patching the game or in software mode).

Requires DX5 patch.
1. Dies about 5-10% of the
battles (restart and use continue to get back to end of previous
turn)
2. Multiplay requires DX 6.1, so probably doesn't work (not
tested)
3. Does not show on taskbar. If you switch applications, must
use alt-tab to return The base game installs fine.
To install the patch:
1. Download the version for directx 6.1 already installed
(otherwise it will try to install DX6.1)
2. Modify registry to make it think you have DX 6.1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> DirectX
InstalledVersion = 06 03 00 00 Version = "4.6.3.0"

I got two versions from Xcom TFTD...one normal DOS Version and this Gold Edition. My problem was that the Dos Version works but without sound because I couldnt make settings for the SBlive in my Pc.

The Gold Version was not playable beause I couldnt see the screen.

So here the end for this problem.

You have to disable the DirectDraw function with dxdiag!

Now you should see clearly the game under your Windows 2000 and it runs with sound =o).

The DOS Version wont work together under Dos with the SBLIVE...sorry

The only other chance maybe is Connectix Virtual Pc, but the Sound output is terrible...

You need to make a Pif file with 3072K of EMS, and with VDMSound you will get full sound.

Mechwarrior 3: Pirate's Moon (5)

It works on Win2k Pro SP1. Haven't tried without SP1. I didn't encounter any problems whatsoever. Note that this game was made for 286s. :)
