2) After installing Direct-X 8, I've NEVER been able to start this game ever again. Without DX8, it works just fine

Received the follow messages:
1) Installed and runs flawlessly under Windows 2000. Considering it is then same graphics engine as RRT2 - it performs better when switching screen res. No problems at all.
2) Played for eight hours so far. Everything seems to work. My game crashed after eight hours though, that may be more of a bug in the game than an issue with Win2k.
