Im really hoping someone can help me here. I need to configure my NIS 2004 to work with the Network Address Translation (NAT) in my Wireless Router. I dont really want to use the WAP as i have no easy quick control over what crosses the internet from my computers .

I hope this makes sense

Best regards and Happy New Year to you

Hi, & I'll try to even though I don't use Wireless stuff... (surprised nobody else has jumped on this yet though, but here goes):

You're going to probably have to determine what ports are in use there, & for what applications...

SO! How to do this on your end for your NIS firewall rules tables, etc.?

Well... read on!

Run w/OUT any firewalls & such going & start messing about with your apps that are "remotely oriented" (webbrowser, ip tools, & even games etc.)

Once that's done & in fairly quick succession?

Open a DOS prompt, & type in this command:

netstat -ano

(On Windows XP/2003)

OR

netstat -an

(On Windows 2000)

* They will show you WHAT ports are being used, remote AND local... this will help you determine what ports you need to punch open if your documentation for them does not supply this info!

Then, once you have a list of 'em? You punch holes into ANY software firewall & also NAT "firewalling" routers & such too for them... should workout!

I think so, provided I understood your problem correctly that is... hope you got what I meant up there too!
