Hi,
I just bought a new system w/Win2K installed.
The system has:

**Athlon T-Bird 1000MHz Cpu
**Asus A7V 133MHz Mboard
**256 MB PC133 Ram
**Pioneer 115 16x40 DVD
**30GB Maxtor HDD
**eVGA GeForce2 MX 32MB
**SB Live Value

Everytime I play Quake2, the screen freezes and I physically have to push reset button to get out.
I have read the instruction on how to install both Win98 and Win2K in one system. The only thing that bothers me with the recommendation they have is that you need to install in the order of Win98 and Win2K. Does anybody know how to install Win98 to the existing Win2K system without any headaches? I also thought about getting a Partition Magic 6.0 to do the work for me. Any idea? Please help.

Quake 2 runs fine in NT5. You problem points to a system instability. Upgrade your drivers.

DosFreak is right, Q2 runs great in Win2K. You usually hear about the install order of Win9x(or whatever) first, then WinNT/2K next because NT/2K will make a suitable ARC path entry into your boot.ini, which will then give you a shiny new entry at the boot menu. It can be done manually, but I would suggest that you go to www.cramsession.com and take a peak at the cramsession for Win2K (NT workstation defines the ARC path as well) so you can learn what it is before you start messing with anything.

It's good to hear that Q2 is working on W2k.
My next question is, is it more beneficial to have dual OSes or just W2K. I have a stupid question for ya, how do you check which version of drivers I have in W2K system? Is most recently updated version better or just the next version than what I have is good'nuff? Again, thanks for the helpful tips folks.

Does anybody know what the steps are to finding out what version of drivers I have and is it necessary to uninstall the old version first then install the updated version? I need steps for video, sound, and motherboard if I could. Thanks,

Brian

Please help!
While I was reading other similar issues that were posted in this forum, I've notices somthing about that you need to enable all 3D accelerations including AGP selection. When I checked my DxDiag, I've noticed all have been checked except AGP selection was grayed out. I don't know what this means and I also read something about Microsoft recently caught an incomplete driver for the VIA AGP chip set and have the download available under their site. Since I have Athlon/A7V Motherboard, I followed their instruction and updated the driver and when I played the game, it made it worse. Now I can't even play for 5 minutes. It freezes on the intro.
