The Doom95 engine is very
quick and very stable. It runs all wads (including orignal, II and add
on packs) and iwads. Have even run it on a terminal server. This
includes a three player network game with all three sessions running on
the server.

I have tested this on Windows Vista Home Premium. You will need to download dplay.dll and copy it to c:\Windows\system and then configure Compatibility mode on the shortcuts to use Windows XP SP2 and set 640x480 resolution and 256 colours.
