Sound with SoundFX NT
from Software Systems. To add music you need to patch
Duke3D.exe.
Startup a DOS command prompt in
the Duke Nukem 3D directory and enter: cli2nop duke3d.exe
duke3dnt.exe.
This will create a patched
version "duke3dnt.exe" leaving the original untouched.
Create a PIF file for "duke3dnt.exe" as described in
"adding sound" /SoundFX NT readme. You should ensure
that "Compatible timer hardware operation" is enabled.
The patch enables music only. Attempting to use sound effects
still causes a freeze.

Is somewhat possible to get working under DOS mode with a variety of utilities, however it now works natively using a number of different windows ports following the release of the DN3D Source Code.

I recommend the port at the following site:

Works but only on 320x200 resolution. Run setmain to set up sound card, controller etc. set screen mode to 320x200 [is default] Works without problems, only exception is VESA resolutions [320x240, 640x480, 800x600]
