Finds the device ok, but then
fails to find any drivers. The Win NT4 and 9x drivers do not work either,
so you're left with the lovely yellow question mark.

Have installed this printer on a number of Windows NT 4.0 systems without too many problems. (The printer itself isn't the best, but in 2006, it's getting difficult to find NT 4.0 compatible printers.)

After searching online for awhile, I finally found drivers that partially work. The install CD doesn't work at all. At the present, I can print, but can not scan. I've emailed epson, and they say they are woking on it, but they have drivers out for almost every other all-in-one but this one. Running Vista Home Premium.

There are X64 drivers for the Epson 1280 photo printer. Available from Epson US.

Unfortunately I have the 1290 which is supposed to be the same model just different name, but the drivers dont work properly as I can't get the status monitor to work, the print driver works ok though, so it will have to do for the time being.

Epson Perfection 1240U (5)

Received the follow messages:
1) No Windows XP Drivers yet. However, loaded Win2k drivers. Looks like it worked but then it can't be found in any of the applications. Going to the scanner control panel, I can see the scanner and pushing the test button verifies that the OS is seeing the scanner. There is some disconnect there between the driver and the apps. I tried Photoshop 6, PhotoDeluxe 4 and the built-in scanner wizard.
2) At first I installed the windows 2000 drivers. They installed without a problem. Then when I tried the scanner no program could find it. In the device manager I could the see the scanner with an !. Then I reinstalled the drivers letting windows automatically installing them. Now everything works perfectly. I Tried scanning in Word, Ulead Photo Express and Omnipage Pro. No problems at all.
3) Downloaded the Win2k drivers and ignored all XP warnings. Then installed Epson Smart Panel and everything works fine!
