I have an older Gateway(7 yrs old) that originally came with Win98 and I have since gotten a bigger hard drive and installed Win XP Pro. I am now selling this pc and want to install Win98 for the new user(don't ask me why he would want 98,but that was his choice). I'm not sure on how to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Boot off a Win 98 boot disk (www.bootdisk.com), run FDISK and delete all the partitions (non-dos). Create a new Primary DOS Partition and format it. Then run setup from Win98 CD and install Windows 98.
