Correction and addendums to earlier result for this card, which probably apply to all sound cards (and integrated motherboard sound) based on Aureal 8810, 8820, 8830 chipsets: Do not install A3D drivers after installing Windows 2000 drivers; A3D 3.12 drivers are for Windows 9x only and will not work properly under Windows 2000.
Windows 2000 usually overwrites some driver files after re-boot, so manual driver file re-installation is usually required.
Audio card hardware acceleration, accessed through 'Control Panel-Sounds and Multimedia-Audio-Sound Playback-Preferred
Device-Aureal Audio-Advanced-Performance-Audio Playback-Hardware
Acceleration' slider, must be set to Full instead of the Windows 2000 default setting of Standard to enable Aureal 3D (A3D) effects to work properly without system instability like 'Blue Screen of Death'.

Standard inexpensive nVidia TNT2 Model 64 32-megabyte AGP video card with cooling fan. Works fine with reference nVidia Detonator drivers.

Works fine with Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02 or Nero 5.0.x writing software. Drive is capable of multi-word DMA; definitely not Ultra DMA-33.

MagicWriter 2x6 CD-RW drive (5)

Even though this card has the Aureal Vortex 8820
chipset on it and is detected by w2000 as that, it refuses to work.. acts like
its fine in the device manager but digital sound and midi does not work. The
card seems to be initialized at startup and mixer settings work (line out and
speaker out can get sound) .. iomagic currently does not have any win2000
drivers for this card.

Works with Aureal's 8830 Vortex 2 drivers on SMP systems. It's PnP, and fairly inexpensive for a Vortex 2 card.

MagicSound 16 audio card (5)

Very inexpensive ISA card
that uses Opti 931 sound chip. Works all right but sound fidelity is not
as good as a PCI sound card.
