I purchased the game of the year edition version of Half-Life and it wont work online for multiplayer. I purchased it so that i could play it online and it wont work. It says that it cant connect to the server and it says that my version is out of date and i should update it and when i check for updates there are none. Does anyone have any advice on how to get it to work?

Thanks

1) Check your firewall to make sure ports are open and that program is allowed to access the internet.

2) try finding a manual update on the internet and save it somewhere on your computer and running it manually.

Hope it helps.

Hopefully not a stupid question, but have you downloaded and installed the Steam client?

If not, do so and use your serial number to create a Steam account, let it do it's thing and you should be fine. Remember to import your existing installation rather than allow it to download it again. If you have already done this, disregard my post and call me silly.

Steam uses the following ports:
* 1200 (UDP)
* 27000-27015 (UDP)
* 27030-27039 (TCP)
