I found therefore, with help of the SANE project (Scanner Access Now Easy, a Linux scanning project) that the LT9848 is really only a relabled Mustek 600 III EP. I tried the Mustek drivers, and now my scanner works under Windows 2000, with the exception of it being a bit slower than before. The parallell port mode is set to EPP in the BIOS, so that should not be a problem.
