MS and Logitech both claim this camera doesn't work under 2k. They're both wrong. To use the 5.xx version of the Quickcam software, install the nt4 drivers for the quick cam from the cd. Then download the 5.x software form logitech (select a newer camera, like the QuickCam Pro)and install as normal.

The Windows XP drivers work, but you have to follow these steps after you downloaded the software:

1) Disconnect the camera from the computer.

2) Extract the executable that you download from Logitech using WinZip or another compression utility. Make sure it retains the directory structure.

3) In the directory structure there are three folders. QCDriver, QCDriver2 and QCDriver3. In each of these folders is a SETUP.EXE. Right click on the SETUP.EXE in each folder, and change its compatibility properties to "Windows XP".

4) Start SETUP.EXE from the ROOT FOLDER of the extracted directory (not from one of the QCDriver folders) and follow the instructions. ---REMEMBER NOT TO HAVE THE CAMERA CONNECTED!!! ---

5) Reboot after it is done. The Camera Connection Wizard will come up after logging in. Connect the camera to the USB port when the program tells you to. Drivers will now be installed automatically.

6) All Done! Happy webcamming!

If for some reason during step 5 it asks you for a folder, browse to the QCDRiver (or 2, or 3) folder.

Messed around with NT drivers from other cams that do work under win2k (Quickcam home & Pro) put stuff together and voila...this works fine for me now

No support for Windows supported default web browsers -- media keys do not work unless browser has specific support by Logitech software. No support for DirectSound / Windows MME sound -- volume controls only work with certain sound cards. No support for ACPI control of power button on keyboard. No support for PS/2 mouse. No support for W2k/XP multi-monitor setup -- Media Desktop assumes the resolution of the primary monitor even if displaying on a different monitor with a different resolution.

Only USB Keyboards. You have to turn on the CompatibleScript from Windows 2003 on the setup.exe (right click on setup, Compatibility, Windows XP)

The newest drivers from Logitech (Ver 5.30) do not work with this camera under Windows 2000. So I tried the 4.1.1 drivers that came on my CD with the cam and they work fine under W2K. The only issue is that when these drivers are loaded the system does not "shotdown" when you choose that option - it does a reboot.

Received the follow messages:
1) Need the QuickCam 5.0 CD which has Win2k Drivers. They are not available at the Logitech site yet.
2) there are 2 versions of the PRO now, one with a dark ring and one with a beige ring, mine is the beige ring and I cant seem to get w2k to detect its drivers at all. :( and the website has no support for the beige ring for w2k users :(

Says not supported on Logitech's page. They're half right. HOWEVER, the camera DOES work. The only thing is, you have to download the QuickCam Pro software (it's actually the same as all the other ones but for this purpose I downloaded from the QC Pro link) and change the setup.inf so that
it installs the QuickCam Pro drivers (Advanced Users only). Then you can install it by right clicking on the .inf and selecting install.
