Mechwarrior 3 doesnt want to install. You have to copy the install files from the cd, and run the compatibility layer by right clicking the setup file. Works if you set it to win95.

1. Run apcomat on setup.exe and set it to Windows 98. 2. Close apcompat from Task Manager (it usually stopped responding on me anyways). 3. Install should go by fine. 4. At the end of install, warning will pop up saying "Can not run Unicode version of ATL.DLL on Windows 95. Please install the correct version." 5. Game still loaded and ran.

Win2k. Run the installer in compatibility mode (W98/95, they both work) and then run the app in NATIVE mode. Works a beaut. Same for Pirate's Moon

Installs ok, no problems. Crashed after running the intro. Restarted, selected Instant Action, and played a couple of games without problems, although crashes if I select battle wave. Installing the 1.2 patch to see if this makes any difference.

Hardware - Tyan 2895, dual opteron 250, 6GB RAM, ATI X1950 Pro. Win XP 64 SP2

Update to post above (2008-08-05)

On subsequent missions, APCs would repeatedly drop from the air, and bounce up again. Cresting ridges/hills/river banks, mech would be suspended in mid-air, the display would "crash". This was under native XP, have yet to try any compatibility modes.

Shame, as C&C Red Alert 2 runs fine :-)
