Mechwarrior 3 freezing in Mission 2

Hi.

I've just recently bought Mechwarrior 3 and I got it running in XP with no problem thanks to this forum's instructions! Only problem is, once I finish the first mission, as soon as I move on to mission 2 and the briefing starts, the game freezes in the middle of a dialog and the program shuts down. I get a notice from Windows XP about the error and it offers to send the problem to Microsoft, yet nothing else happens and I can't move forward. Any suggestions from anybody? I'd really appreciate help here!
