Mustek 600 II CD Scanner - Windows 2000 Drivers

has anyone seen Windows 2000 drivers for the Mustek 600 II CD Scanner? Do the NT4 drivers work under 2000? I did find the following article on this site about using a generic DTC-3181 SCSI driver, but the link is broken.

SCSI Scanners under Windows 2000
Julian Mehnle send me the follow:

"I saw that you posted the Mustek 600 II CD as not working under Win2000. According to the Mustek web site, the scanner uses the DTC-3181 SCSI card:

http://www.mustek.com/Imaging/drivers/devicedrivers/600iicd.htm

As I don't have that scanner (only the SCSI card with another scanner), I can't tell for sure, but I guess if you use the DTC-3181 Win2k drivers ( http://www.ntcompatible.com/files/dtc3x8x-win2k.zip) supplied by me, the scanner should be working (if you install the TWAIN drivers of course).

The DTC-3181 is often bundled with SCSI scanners. It is built upon the Domex 436 chip. The 3181/3151/3x8x can all use the same drivers. The card doesn't use an IRQ, only direct I/O, and therefore is very slow and causes 100% CPU load during use, even under NT4/W2000 (and I *mean* 100%!!). But it does work.

The delayed Win2k bootup is normal with these drivers, and other scanners do work fine with them!"

Hello!

Well, I just surfed through all the Mustek-Driver-sites again, just to see if my hope wasn't useless at all. Then I found this: http://www.mustek-driver.de/600_2cd.html

As you can see a driver for the Mustek 600 II CD, working under Win2k, is planned now. Please, don't ask when they're going to be realeased...
For me, there's just a new hope...

IMO that is still not an excuse for them not to have drivers for it, i mean people use this for business too and to not have drivers after an OS has been out for a year and already has a service pack for it is just plain crap. You should put a petition together of all the people that want drivers developed faster than just being 'planned on' and send it to them and see if they respond. If not i would just tell everyone to tell everyone they know not to buy their products.

/end rant

Of course it's not an excuse at all - thats clear! But it's better than the last answer to my email when I asked when they will realease a driver for Win2k. You know what they wrote? "Win2k is a operating system for the professional user, but our scanner Mustek 600 II CD is hardware for home user only - so we won't develop any software for Win2k!"

It's clear to me that I won't ever buy a Mustek product again - but nevertheless I'm so happy that it seems as if I could use my scanner in Win2k too that I don't care very much that there's so much delay - because, in my case, the consequences to give a **** on their products are already there...
