Resident Evil 2: problems problems problems

I'm absolutely raging. I've changed the compatability and everything else that I've been told to do by reading through these forums, but the game won't let me change the save directory!
It keeps telling me that it can't find the file and to reboot and try again later!
I even tried reinstalling the game to a different directory but the same message came up again.

Please heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!
