Though this device comes advertised as having MIDI functionality through its USB port with Windows XP, the drivers are incompatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2. Roland has no fix at this date 1/13/05.

MPU-401 driver comes with
Windows 2000 but is HIDDEN! To unhide it:
1) Copy WDMAUDIO.INF from winntinf to a
temp directory.
2) Edit it with NOTEPAD and put ;; in front of these two lines as
follows:

;;ExcludeFromSelect = *
3) Open Control Panel, Add New Hardware,
Pick Sound, Video Controller, Have Disk, Browse to the temp directory
and open WDMAUDIO.INF. Choose MPU-401.
