Does VDMSound actually work with Shadow Warrior? If so, explain how. Last time I tried (with update 1) I got better results with XPs inbuilt sound emulation.

That`s all for now.

Heres something you might like to try (no guarantees it'll work though...): Find out the exact settings your sound card is using (Address, IRQ, Low DMA, High DMA) and enter these in Shadow Warriors setup program. Then try running SW in Windows 95 Compatibility Mode. Hopefully that'll allow SW to directly access the sound hardware although I give no guarantees...

I don`t know what else to do:the message says that posible conflict IRQ and "must change high DMA chanell.I dont know what it means with changing high DMA chanell-which value does it want?

16-bit ISA sound cards like your AWE64 typically require two DMA channels: one in the 8bit space (the larger part of the ISA connector) and one in the 16bit space (the smaller part). What it means when it says it wants a high DMA channel is that, for some reason, you haven't set the 16 bit DMA properly. If you want to use XPs sound emulation (and VDMSound I believe), that DMA is 5. If you want to try my method above, you'll have to determine what your sound card is actually using (which may or may not be the same). To do that you'll have to go to your cards property shet in the Device manager.

Once you have the correct information (for whatever method you want to try), run the Setup.exe program in your Shadow Warrior directory and enter it in the "Sound Setup" menu.

Now I`m a little confused.
IRQ=5
DMA=1
DMA=5
This is my configuration for sound card (AWE64)
What else I should do to start this b....! sound in S.W.

I know whats wrong, it'd completely slipped my mind: XPs inbuilt sound emulation doesn't support a high (16-bit) DMA channel since it only emulates the 8-bit Sound Blaster 2.0.

If those are the exact parameters for your soundcard (your I/O Address is 220 right?) then try running SW in Windows 95 compatibility mode and see what happens. If it doesn't work then you could try changing your sound card type to Sound Blaster 2.0 and trying again but if that doesn't work, you're screwed.

The problem with Build-engine games (like Shadow Warrior) is that apparently they all used different methods to acheive their sound output so what works for Duke3D may not necessarily work for Shadow Warrior, Blood etc.
