Hi. I have had the Sims 2 for a while now but my computer motherboard went kablooey so I got a new computer, keyboard, moniter, mouse, speakers, the whole shabang. Well, anyway, Recently, I have tried a few times to install the Sims 2 on my new computer (it is a Compaq Presario) and it will not work. What it does, is, it starts the installation process and it gets up to about 7% and it stops. A window instantly comes up saying: A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'TSData\Res\Sound\Voice1.package' from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation? Those are the exacty words on the window. Then, at 11%, it says the same thing. Same with 14% and about every 3-6 %'s of the installation. It happens so frequently, I just sit at my computer surfing the web, waiting for that window to pop up so I can click Retry. So far, I have only hit retry because, well, like most people, I don't want to restart the installation process all over again. When I hit Retry, it goes on it's business installing the Sims 2 and the percent goes up, but very slowly. It usually takes about 8 hours to get to 100% done on disc 1. But, I have noticed that throughout the whole installation, the window with the percent done says CURRENT FILE: TSData\Res\Sound\Voice1.package'. Now, I'm no computer expert, but, from experience, I do not think that it is supposed to say it through the whole process. After it's done, and says 100%, it just sits there for a while doing nothing, really. And then, that same window comes up. It comes up again. And a third time. And a fourth time. And so fourth, until I finally choose cancel instead of Retry, because I know, well, think, that if I keep choosing Retry, the same window will keep popping up. So, obviously, I don't get to install anything from disc 2 3 or 4 either. I REALLY do not want to quit the installation, but I am practically forced to unless I want to spend DAYS at my computer, which I obviously, do not want to do. Also, I would like to know what TSData\Res\Sound\Voice1.package is. Is it a file that usually has problems installing? Does it mean there is a problem with my computer? Parts of/inside my computer? I really want to run this program and it would be a waste of money if I don't get to. Also, a waste of my time. I am really confused and helpless. PLEASE help me. I am desperate for advice. I thank you for your time and commitment to this website for helpless freaks like me. Is there a method that I can use for installing this? Do I need to rename/redo anything? Please help me!!!!

-Helpless Sims 2 Freak.

Sounds like your drive is having problems reading the disc.

Are the discs scratched at all?

If not then the problem may be your cd/dvd drive.

If they are scratched then you need to get the scratches out or maybe see if you can copy the whole disc to your hard drive with Isobuster. Then install from wherever you copy the disc to.

May want to look at these:

Remove CD Scratches

Isobuster

Good Luck
