Works fine under Windows XP RC1. Drivers that come with XP work fine. It is 8820 chipset.

Turtle Beach Pinnacle Sound Card (5)

TB's NT4 driver 4.05/4.05f works fine in Win2K Pro SP1, although the card is discontinued and no longer supported.

No more support since win95. Even the Win95 drivers are hard to install, card made to run on Win3.x. Third party driver for NT available, not working even on NT4. Too bad!

Montego II Quadzilla (5)

The Montego II does not support multi-processor
systems. The card will work under NT on single-CPU systems only.

Works great doing this:
control panel -> Sounds Multi Media -> Audio -> Sound Play Back
(Advanced) -> Preformance -> Hardware Acceleration (FULL)
I'm using win2000 pro build 2195 (final)
default driver (Aureal Vortex 8820 Audio (WDM))
I also didn't ever experience any scratching or lage before making the
change, but made the change for better direct sound preformance in games

The card
works fine and was detected when I installed Windows2000.
However, I am missing sounds in games such as StarCraft, and in
Age of Empires II, I have to disable sound entirely in order to
play the game.

The Aureal 8830 reference
drivers (these are Plug 'n Play-detected for the Montego II cards, which
use Aureal's Vortex II chips) don't work consistently in Windows 2000
RC2, especially in games. Here's the bulk of an e-mail received from
Turtle Beach tech support in response to my inquiry on the subject:
"While we at Voyetra Turtle Beach understand the need for having
the 'latest and greatest', we do not provide drivers or support for Beta
operating systems such as Windows 2000. We hope to have drivers
available for the Montego II around the time that Windows 2000 is
released as a final product. The Aureal 8830 reference drivers on the
latest build of W2K RC2 should provide *basic* functionality with the
Montego II, however, as these are Aureal's reference drivers, no
guarantees can be made as to their functionality."
