Unable to Update Windows XP SP2

When I am trying to update windows (Windows XP Home Edition, SP2), it displays a message saying I should validate my copy of Windows XP. Then it says, it will collect information from my computer. After that it displays an error message indicating the following error: “VALIDATION NOT COMPLETED: INTERNET CONNECTION PROBLEM”.

The copy of Windows XP and SP2 I am using is a genuine copy which I purchased with my desktop computer. I have already activated this copy and done few updates without any problems. I am using dial-up internet connection and I am sure that I was online when this error occurred.

Please help me to solve this problem.
