XP NFL fever NBA live prob.

Just set up an XP machine and am trying to run NBA live 2001 an NFL fever 2000. What happens is I launch the game and it sits there for at least a minute and then says "error reading from CD". After clicking continue the game plays fine, reading from CD and all. Actually, now this is just the case for NBA live cause after reinstalling NFL it crashes on load (spike.exe). Maybe removing all its registry entrees will fix that. I installed Triple Play 99 and it plays with no problems. God I'm sick of trouble shooting. Hope it's not really obvious. thks.

AMD 2200+ ASUS A7V8X radeon 7200 graphics and creative 52X cd rom.
