I was wondering what you guys thought about using native drivers that came with XP vs. getting updated ones from the manufacturer...
(Specific examples I can site here? Well, Adaptec drivers for my current Ultra ScSi-III controller, a 2940UW OR Video Drivers like my GeForce III by VisionTek... the video one I will concentrate more on here as a specific example.)
THE GOOD EXAMPLE USING MICROSOFT STUFF:
1.) I have had BETTER luck so far with my VisionTek GeForce III on drivers from Microsoft's Windows Update site for XP (less nv_disp.dll infinite loop errors & other types of bluescreens) than I did with NVidia Detonators 21.81, 21.83, 21.85 (these last ones are not all that bad though).
* Usually, in the past on NT/2k though? I have noted better performance out of many drivers (especially Adaptec ones for ScSi stuff), & also video drivers as well DIRECT from the manufacturer vs. using the ones that MS provides...
(I was just curious on your folks' thoughts/personal policies, regarding this issue for XP...)
In short: Do you go for the native OS drivers from MS with XP, or do you hunt down drivers from the manufacturer for XP stuff for your hardwares?
