needed:
Sigma
Designs beta 1 of Hollywood Plus decoder board drivers ( www.sigmadesigns.com)
Creative
Encore 8x Install CD.

I went through to make this work:
Set “PNP OS installed” to “no” in your BIOS (important!) Up

decoder card, it is most likely listed as “Multimedia Controller”
in your “Other” device list in the device manager with an
exclamation mark to indicate that it doesn’t work.
The thing to realize is that the DXR3 is actually an OEM’d version of
the Sigma Designs Hollywood + decoder card.
So, go download beta 1 of the drivers and unzip them to a
temporary directory.  DO

Go to your Creative Encore 8x CD and navigate down to:

Reboot.

Reboot.
