Sound with SoundFX NT from Software Systems. To add music you need to patch Duke3D.exe. Startup a DOS command prompt in the Duke Nukem 3D directory and enter: cli2nop duke3d.exe duke3dnt.exe. This will create a patched version "duke3dnt.exe" leaving the original untouched. Create a PIF file for "duke3dnt.exe" as described in "adding sound" /SoundFX NT readme. You should ensure that "Compatible timer hardware operation" is enabled. The patch enables music only. Attempting to use sound effects still causes a freeze.

Works but only on 320x200 resolution. Run setmain to set up sound card, controller etc. set screen mode to 320x200 [is default] Works without problems, only exception is VESA resolutions [320x240, 640x480, 800x600]

Is somewhat possible to get working under DOS mode with a variety of utilities, however it now works natively using a number of different windows ports following the release of the DN3D Source Code.

I recommend the port at the following site:

Start to load then bombs back to windows, tried using VDMSOUND AND various other utilities, still not working

I had Duke Nukem 3D on windows 95 and it worked great. I now have windows 2000 and now i can no longer load the game and sound (music, duke's voice) is no longer available.
