copy the whole cd over to your harddrive - the default directory would normally be c:\program files\Wipeout 2097 but i don't know if that's crucial in this instance
use a no-cd crack - i used the one by Cracking Computing Force
normally d3d.exe gets renamed to Wipeout2.exe during installation so the crack looks for that filename first but you can manually point it to d3d.exe and have it patch that
run the game from d3d.exe
it runs a bit too fast tho'!!!
and the cd audio tracks will no longer play of course
