Grim Fandango
Submitted by Anonymous on 2001-06-01 12:00:00 This product has a rating of 5 out of 5 running under Windows 2000 Comments: Received the follow messages: 1) With the march 2001 compatability update (just released) grim fandango works perfectly. 2) Won't run under Windows 2000 SP2. Trying to start the game results in a "install directX" screen that can't be bypassed. If SP2 is uninstalled and the March 2001 compatibility update is re-installed, the game will run fine. 3) Will complain about DirectX version when run under standard install. Was able to trick it into running by running Grim.exe directly, but it crashes at the first conversation. However the game runs under Win2k SP2 if you do the following (played complete game under this setup): Select properties of the games shortcut. Select the 'compatibility' tab. Select 'Run in compatibility mode'. Select one of the two 'Windows 9x Compatibility Layer' settings from the drop down. Use the shortcut to launch the game. 4) I have sp2 running on W2K. With the new compatibility patch it works great, whereas it didn't work at all before. |
