ocaholic.ch posted a review on the Lian Li PC-8 Review case
"Lian Li's PC-8 is another mid-tower-beauty with a plain and simple but elegant design. The hole case is made of black and brushed aluminium with a high manufacturing quality. Special for Lian Li is the relatively low price of CHF 99.- (EUR 66.-). Therefore the tension is high if Lian Li even in this, for a full aluminum tower, low price segment knows to convince."

TweakTown posted a review on the ASUS N90Sv-A2 Multimedia Notebook
"There are two basic camps when it comes to notebook computers. Some users want a tiny notebook or netbook that they can easily take with them on the road or around the house. Other users want a full-size desktop replacement notebook that can do most everything that a typical desktop system is capable of.
Today we are going to check out a notebook from ASUS called the N90Sv that falls squarely into the user group of those who want a machine with a big screen and power. The rig isn’t something you would want to tote around campus all day, but it just might make you the envy of the dorm or neighborhood when it comes time to watch movies."

However, all is not negative about gaming, studies by leading researchers have shown that video and computer games have many benefits"

OCIA.net has posted their review of the BFG Tech EX Series 1000 Watt Power Supply
"Here at OCIA.net, we're no strangers to power supplies. However, I've personally only had the chance to look at one BFG PSU before, the impressive "performance series" LS-680: a non-modular unit aimed towards the middle-of-the-line crowd. Today, we're going to have a look at a higher end unit, the EX-1000, "enthusiast series" modular power supply weighing in at 1KW of power."

ITReviewed posted a review on the AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition
"The latest Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition is the first dual-core Phenom II chip. And it's great for gaming and multitasking. The 3.1GHz processor performs very much on par with Intel's 3GHz dual-core E8400, but costs 50 or so less. Furthermore, for the reduced price you're getting an unlocked processor to play with. The downside is that power consumption is a tad high for a dual-core processor. On the flipside a complete AMD-based system is much more energy efficient than an Intel-based rig. The Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition is an awesome budget processor for enthusiasts - if only it could roll over the 4GHz barrier! It's not the most powerful at running heavy workloads - that's what quad cores are for - but for general computing duties and gaming it's an outstanding buy."

TweakTown posted a review on the Zalman CNPS10X Extreme CPU Cooler
"Zalman’s new tower design is the CNPS10X Extreme with a unique and innovative fan controller built right into the cooler itself. I know a bunch of coolers have inline fan controls with a “peg” type dial adapted in and usually offer very rough control of the fans speed. Zalman takes all this a large step forward and builds it into an all black nickel plated cooler.
The fins, the heatpipes, the base, everything gets plating. This with a striking blue LED in the 120mm accompanying fan puts on quite a show for the eyes. Let’s discuss the specs and get to the images and the testing, as I’m sure you are as eager as I to see what the Zalman CNPS10X Extreme is capable of."

Hi Tech Legion posted a review on the Thermaltake ISGC-400 CPU Cooler
"Recently I built a decent AMD/ATI based system for gaming that was built in the NZXT Guardian 921 case, which is a normal size mid tower gaming case. This case, though roomy enough to accommodate a 4870 X2 graphics card, was unable to house a tall heatsink, such as the Titan Fenrir or Thermaltake ISGC 300, comfortably without removing the case's side fan and having the heatsink touching the side panel acrylic window. Now this left me considering taking the system back out and using a different case, but then I realized that I had received a new heatsink that might just fit and provide the performance I would need, and it was even a part of the silent gaming series from Thermaltake."

IT PRO have a review of Mozilla Firefox 3.5
"Forget Microsoft and the dull facts of its still dominant market share - Mozilla is really the biggest name in browsers.
OK, so Internet Explorer may still be top, but Firefox was the first to really make a dent in Microsoft's market share and with version 3.5 it's still pushing the boat out.
Since Firefox 3.0 was launched, Mozilla has fresh competition snapping at its heels from the likes of Google's Chrome, Apple's Safari 4 and let's not forget Opera, with its recent 10 beta. All have touted speed improvements for general rendering and JavaScript."

GeekSmack reports that Windows 7 RTM build will be officially announced on July 13th
"Through our sources close to Microsoft, we can now confirm that the Windows 7 RTM build that will be chosen over the next few days will be officially announced on July 13th, 2009, the same day as the WPC09 (Worldwide Partner Conference) will take place in New Orleans.
As I just mentioned, Microsoft is still in the process of testing and choosing from the RTM candidate builds as they need to ensure that all show-stopper bugs present in the OS have been eradicated to ensure as much of a smooth, bug-free release as possible. TechNet, MSDN, and other partner connections will be getting their hands on the RTM build shortly after, if not on the same day."

TweakTown posted a review on the Corsair Dominator GT PC3-16000 6GB Memory Kit
"Expanding the lineup we see that Corsair has added a PC3-16000 kit which offers a stock clock of 2000MHz. This for most people is simply unnecessary. But if you're serious about your benchmarking or simply want the fastest stuff on the market, they could be worth looking at.
What we'll do is have a look at the package before checking out the modules and see what exactly they’re capable of before seeing what 2000MHz looks like and what it means in the performance department."

Reviews: ASUS EAH 4770 Formula Series Review
2009-07-03 07:20:13 Source: Email [ Print | 0 Comment(s) ]
OCC has published a new review on the ASUS EAH 4770 Formula Series
"Asus has designed a card that uses what it calls the "Ultimate Armaments" to build a card that performs well not only at stock speeds but to push the envelope when overclocked. Lower RDS on MOSFETs that run cooler, solid capacitors for a longer service life, shielded DVI connections for improved clarity and covered chokes for cooler operation and better efficiency are the things that ASUS uses to separate its products from the reference design cards. Pricing on the reference HD 4770 cards runs anywhere from $99 to $119, which is right at the price point for many of the reference design HD 4850s, which could put a crimp in the sales of the 4770. Rumors of a shortage of 40nm chips may have prompted AMD/ATI to drop the price on the HD 4850 to keep the pressure on nVidia at this price point since really this is where the money is made for the most part. What you have in the Asus EAH4770 is a video card that performs above its price point when overclocked, delivers cooling performance without the noise penalty associated with AMD/ATI reference heatsinks and is built with high quality components for a price that won't break the bank."
