These days, USB Devices are ubiquitous. From digital cameras to cell phones to portable hard drives, somewhere a USB port will usually be involved. The function of the USB port is to either transfer information or to power/charge devices. Depending on the computer, some USB ports do not have enough power to provide sufficient charge these USB driven devices.
