At Abit´s suggestion, only hard drives should be connected to IDE 3 and 4, and you should move all the ATAPI devices such as CDROMs/DVDs/ZIPs/LS120s, etc to the first two IDE channels. This will give you the best performance out of all of the devices in your machine.
