AMD R9 Fury round-up: three cheaper Fijis tested

Last year AMD introduced the new R9 Fury X and Fury GPUs. Since then there have been quite a few variations based on the R9 Fury GPU. In this test we compare three Furys: the ASUS Radeon R9 Fury Strix, Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury Tri-X OC and the XFX Radeon R9 Fury Pro Triple Dissipation.

Recently there have been some rumours that the R9 Fury-cards would have their price lowered. This worked out well, as we were already doing a round-up of Fury cards. This was not as easy as it looks. Where manufacturers have released a lot of different custom graphics cards based on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti, the amount of AMD-based graphics cards are not as numerous. Aside from that most manufacturers are, unfortunately, reluctant to send us their Furys. Fortunately we got our hands on three Furys for this review.

HyperX Cloud Revolver Pro Gaming Headset Review

Linksys EA8500 review: flagship for everyone

The MU MIMO train has been taking of well. Linksys of course did not want to lag behind the rest and have released an interesting model, the EA8500. We tested it extensively.

Linksys has two major router series. Besides the old and trusted EA line of routers, where the EA8500 which we are discussing in this review also belongs, Linksys also has the WRT line of products, where they try to breathe new life into the most successful router of all time, the WRT54G. Linksys has already a wide range of products in the higher segment with the WRT1900AC, WRT1900ACS, E8350 and the EA8500. Soon the EA7500 will be added to this list and the ES9500 has also been announced already.

We are also already testing the WRT1900ACS in our lab, so you can expect a review soon. Today we are going to take a deeper look at the EA8500, the firts MU MIMO router from Linksys. During a call some time ago that we were allowed to attend, this product was announced. Linksys called it the first 'working' MU MIMO router. This was clearly a shot fired at Asus and Netgear, who have already released MU MIMO routers nine months ago, with respectively the RT-AC87U and the R7500. For those routers support for the new technology sadly never came. Both are excellent routers in pretty much all areas, except for MU MIMO support. The EA8500 is supposed to do a much better job.

MSI Z170A GAMING M5 (LGA1151) Motherboard Review

MSI has rapidly established itself as one of the most reputable motherboard manufacturers and constantly strives to enhance the user experience through an intuitive BIOS interface and marvellous reliability. Additionally, the company offers a huge range of products to suit various colour schemes and often creates extremely-unique designs as demonstrated by the gorgeous, Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM motherboard. Some time ago, MSI released the Z170A GAMING PRO which adopted a fantastic red and black theme to please the core gaming demographic. Although, it’s difficult to stand out when using this colour scheme because manufacturers tend to fixate on a safe, popular design. That’s not to say there’s anything particular wrong with utilizing these colours, but I’d prefer to see more vendors breaking the mould through truly unusual aesthetic choices.

Since the Z170A GAMING PRO’s release, MSI has listened intently to user feedback and decided to construct a brand new model entitled, the Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON. At first glance, the only difference appears to be the new carbon fibre skin. However, this isn’t the case because MSI has made a raft of changes to enhance the motherboard’s connectivity. More specifically, the Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON features two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, one being type-A while the other is type-C. Furthermore, the redundant PCI slot has been dropped in favour of a fourth PCI-E x1 slot. Thankfully, the 180-degree angle SATA ports have been removed and replaced with a more suitable arrangement using right-angled connectors. Finally, the USB 3.1 Gen 1 layout features two on the rear and four via an internal header while USB 2.0 options now contain a total of 8 ports through a front four rear four setup.

True the Strike Battle is not one of the most feature-rich keyboards we've ever seen but tenkeyless models are generally cut-down versions of full sized ones so we never expect many bells and whistles to begin with (the Atlas G410 by Logitech is an exception to that rule). On the other hand tenkeyless models are known for their durable construction so let's check the Strike Battle out and see if it has what it takes to be your LAN party companion.
