ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB GDDR3 Video Card in CrossFire
TweakTown posted a review on the ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB GDDR3 Video Card in CrossFire

I always make the effort to make sure every card that comes into my lab gets a review. It's the least I can do for a company that has made the effort to send it. So ATI managed to send off a HD 5450 in time for launch, but we thought that since we had a full retail model on hand as well, we would put that one up first.

We like to have reference temperatures and power figures on hand, though, and AMD did make the effort to send the card over so we thought why not CF these two budget cards, have a bit of fun and see if we can get something that's playable.

Intel Clarkdale Linux Graphics Performance
Phoronix takes a look at Intel Clarkdale Linux Graphics Performance

Last week we delivered our first Linux benchmarks of Intel's Core i3 Clarkdale processor with a variety of computational tests through the Phoronix Test Suite. While the Core i3 packs a nice performance punch, that is not all it has to offer. Also found on the Clarkdale (and mobile Arrandale) processors is an integrated 45nm graphics processor that is supposed to offer a decent level of performance in comparison to earlier Intel IGPs normally found on the motherboard's Chipset. In this article are these first Intel benchmarks for the Clarkdale graphics processor as we see how its open-source Intel driver stack compares to that of AMD with their open-source Radeon stack up through the Radeon R700 series.

HotHardware.com posted details of Intel's upcoming Mobile and Six-Core Processors

With the International Solid-State Circuits Conference less than a week away, Intel has released additional details on its hexa-core desktop, next generation mobile and dual-core Westmere processors. Much of the dual-core data was revealed last month when the CPU manufacturer launched Clarkdale. When Intel set its internal goals for what its calling Westmere 6C, the company aimed to boost both core and cache count by 50 percent without increasing the processor's thermal envelope. Towards this end, the new Westmere chips will incorporate additional technologies to reduce the CPU's power consumption at idle...

Modding A Barracuda 7200.11 Into A VelociRaptor
Tech ARP posted guide about modding a Barracuda 7200.11 Into a VelociRaptor

That's a really catchy title, isn't it? Who wouldn't want to turn a "slow" 7,200 RPM hard disk drive into a super-fast 10,000 RPM Western Digital VelociRaptor? After all, the 300 GB model of the much-vaunted HDD speed king retails for US$ 199.99, while a 1.5 TB Barracuda 7200.11 only costs US$ 109.99. Imagine getting the performance of the VelociRaptor with the capacity and price of the Seagate Barracuda!

The guys at TechwareLabs came up with an apparently nifty way to transform" the 1.5 TB Barracuda 7200.11 hard disk drive into a VelociRaptor-killer. But before you go rushing out to grab yourself a 1.5 TB Barracuda 7200.11 hard disk drive, please note that their mod basically involves crippling the Barracuda...

SilverStone Grandia GD05 HTPC Case Review
OCIA.net has posted their review of the SilverStone Grandia GD05 HTPC Case

A visit to SilverStone's website reveals they currently offer four different series of HTPC cases and a whopping thirty-two models! The GD05 we have for review today is part of SilverStone's Grandia series of "mainstream" HTPC enclosures. These are designed for the multimedia PC builder on a budget, that still accommodate a standard micro-ATX board, full-size power supply and video card. The last case of this type we reviewed here at OCIA.net was the GD02 almost two years ago. GIGABYTE SATA 6G Update - RAID 0 Just How We Like It
TweakTown takes a look at the RAID 0 performance of the GIGABYTE P55A-UD4

When we tested the ASUS P55 and GIGABYTE P55 boards with USB 3.0 and SATA 6G, we found some interesting numbers when using the GIGABYTE P55A-UD4P in RAID 0. For the most part we didn’t see much of an improvement when going from a single to a dual drive configuration with RAID 0. GIGABYTE also noticed the same issue and quickly went to work with Marvell to find a solution.

When enthusiasts choose to pair a set of drives in RAID 0, they are looking to nearly double their performance. RAID 0 offers many a quick and inexpensive way to get solid performance gains out of the slowest component or subsystem in their computer. Simply put, when your hard storage system is running faster, your entire machine feels more responsive and appears to be faster.

PowerColor Radeon HD 5750 Review
OCC has published a review on the PowerColor Radeon HD 5750

Performance at stock was right about where it should be, there weren't any surprises. The 1GB of memory helped out in some games at 2560x1600 while others the card was just too weak. Once the big overclock set in though, this card was a performer! It wasn't ground shattering, but it did help the 5750 catch up to the other cards and made it feel less like a low-midrange GPU.
