DreamWare Computers posted a review on the Silverstone TS04 USB 3.0 2.5" SDD/HDD Enclosure

January 2011 marked the one year anniversary of USB 3.0 availability on mass-market consumer products. Adoption of the USB 3.0 standard started a little slow, but as of late 2010 began really ramping up. The Silverstone TS04 is Silverstone's first USB 3.0 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD compatible drive enclosure to hit the market. Today I have the TS04 here on my test bench, and am ready to put it to the test!

Nexus Real Silent CPU Cooler - FLC-3000 R2
Computing on Demand has posted a new article, 'Nexus Real Silent CPU Cooler - FLC-3000 R2'

Some people like quiet computing, others like the wind tunnel experience. Personally, I fall somewhere in the middle.  The winding hum of fans whisking air through my rig is calming for me; much like vacuums to a baby. However, I am not the norm, oddly. Many of today's users seem to look towards a peaceful experience in front of the keyboard instead of the days when we thought having a computer that sounded like a hovercraft was cool.  A few companies have made a name for themselves by offering peripherals and devices that marry performance with peace and quiet. Nexus thinks they have the proper balance with their new FLC-3000 (R2).

Kingston SSDNow V+100 256GB Solid State Drive Review
TweakTown posted a review on the Kingston SSDNow V+100 256GB Solid State Drive

One of the biggest surprises we learned at CES 2011 was that Kingston had joined Team SandForce for the SF-2000 Series of products. After CES we learned from Digitimes that Kingston was also moving to acquire a larger stake of controller manufacturer JMicron at the same time. Kingston has been gaining attention for their solid state drive products for the last two years and slowly gaining market share. The recent maneuvers will allow Kingston to continue building upon their successes and become an even larger player in the global solid state drive market.

Today we are looking at the Kingston V+100. The new V+100 uses a 32nm Toshiba T6UG1XBG controller that is very close to the 43nm controller from the original V+. The new die size has really helped power draw, down to 3.6 watts from 4.2 watts. In addition to the die shrink, the new V+100 has been updated with better firmware that significantly improves internal drive cleanup (Garbage Collection).

Logitech Z305 USB Laptop Speaker Review
Everything USB posted a review on the Logitech Z305 USB Laptop Speaker

One of the few things holding back the laptop from completely replacing desktops is their limited sound reproduction ability. With stock speakers, one could never enjoy the full fidelity that their movies and music can provide. Usually powerful explosions would sound like opening tin cans, and intimate dialogue would feel distant and cold. Especially with Blu-ray quickly becoming the new standard on modern notebooks, stock speakers simply cannot cut it if one wishes to enjoy the full experience of their media. Logitech recently released the Z305 Laptop Speaker as a possible solution to this long time problem, and with the recent acquisition of long time audio professionals Ultimate Ears to their ranks, they very well could pull this off. Priced at $59.99, $20 higher than its little brother Z205, will the Logitech Z305 speaker alleviate this veil between source and user? Read on to find out.

The Verdict:
The Logitech Z305 Laptop Speaker offers great mids and highs, as well as clarity and detail that surpasses every stock Laptop Speaker I have tried. Although it lacks bass, it makes up in its convenience and versatility. Not only is it a great laptop speaker, it also double as a great portable PMP speaker. At $59.99, it is a small price to pay for absolute immersion in music in or out of home. A great choice for anyone looking to get a bit more fidelity out of their laptop.

The Good:
+ Very well built
+ Great mids and highs
+ Superb soundstage
+ Easy installation and storage
+ 3.5mm jack for PMP use

The Bad:
- May be a bit long for smaller laptops
- Bass absent
- Lightly veiled sound
- Laptop cannot be fully closed when installed
