Dell Alienware Area-51 Core i7-980 X Infused Gaming PC Review
HotHardware.com posted a review on the Dell Alienware Area-51 Core i7-980 X Infused Gaming PC

When you think about the market for a pre-built, proverbial "Killer Gaming Rig," you have to consider the class of consumer that would have interest in this type of system. For the most part, the average do-it-yourselfer isn't going to take much interest here, save for perhaps the appreciation of all the bleeding-edge technology and design quality that is the hallmark of such a system. That said, there is obviously a significant market opportunity for consumers that want top-of-the line components and build quality for enthusiast-class gaming performance and head-turning aesthetics, without the hassle of going at it the home-grown way. Dell obviously saw this market opportunity when they snatched up the then not-so boutique system builder Alienware, back in March of 2006.

Dell recently afforded their Alienware division the inside track on Intel's benchmark crushing Core i7-980X Gulftown 6-core processor and the resources to get it validated for delivery to market quickly. We've had the new Dell Alienware Area-51 in for testing for a week now and have spent some quality time with the machine, helping it break its first sweat, globally we might add...

ASUS EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5/A Radeon HD 5770 Videocard Review
PC Stats posted an ASUS EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5/A Radeon HD 5770 Videocard review

The ASUS EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5/A videocard might just hit that wonderful sweet spot where price and performance balance perfectly. The card comes packing 1GB of GDDR5 RAM and with a GPU ticking away at 850MHz. In terms of performance, the Radeon HD 5770 GPU slots in just below ATI's flagship Radeon HD 5870 and 5850 chips, but above the mainstream Radeon HD 5670. The Radeon HD 5770 graphics chip is based on the ATI RV840 'Juniper' GPU, a 1.04-billion transistor die manufactured on a the 40nm process.

Intel Xeon X5680 Processor Review
iXBT Labs posted a review on the Intel Xeon X5680 Processor

The transition to the 32nm process technology let Intel painlessly increase the number of cores. The updated Xeon 5600 series is either better or at least not worse than the Xeon 5500 one. The performance of dual-socket machines has been elevated to a new level, which is great. What's even better, the transition to new dice can solve another problem, i.e. reduce power consumption.

Raidmax Quantum Review
OCC has published a review on the Raidmax Quantum

So just as I expected, the hard drive temperatures were great. In fact, they didn't even budge when the drive was loaded. As far as the other temperatures, they weren't too far off from where I expected them to be. I decided that this was going to be due to the lack of a side intake fan, which seems to be supported by the chipset and GPU temperatures. Overall, this case performed right about where most other mid-range cases with no side intake fan, would fall.

Microsoft Arc Wireless Compact Keyboard Review
Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the Microsoft Arc Wireless Compact Keyboard

Many people may subscribe to the idea of "a keyboard is a keyboard is a keyboard". People don't just sit in front of a desk and use their computers anymore. Many people have their PCs connected to their televisions for home theater use, or set up in their kitchen, or hidden within some inconspicuous furniture. Anything goes these days. As computer users each change the way they use their PCs, consumers will need different peripherals to take advantage of these trends. A traditional keyboard does not always suffice in the eyes of the customer, and Microsoft recognizes and addresses this trend with the compact wireless Microsoft Arc model J5D-00001 keyboard. Benchmark Reviews has been givin the opportunity to not only test this wireless keyboard, but also determine if something that looks as good can also perform well. With a small footprint and elegant looks, Microsoft considers this a piece of decoration as much as it is a piece of electronics. Stay tuned as we see if this product lives up to performing as well as it fits into your home decor.

Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Review: An Overall Look at the Core i7 Family
TechSpot posted an Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Review

Back in 2008 when we reviewed the first batch of Intel Core i7 processors, we noted that an upcoming Nehalem die-shrink would bring six core chips built using a 32nm manufacturing process. The release was expected to enhance the investment that Core i7 customers made in the LGA1366 platform by providing an even more powerful upgrade alternative.

Now, well over a year later, here we are with the first commercially available processor based on such architecture. The Core i7 980X Extreme features the same 32nm process used by the Clarkdale Core i3/i5 processors, and perhaps as exciting as it sounds to run 6 cores using HyperThreading (12 threads) is the fact that through a simple BIOS update this processor can be used on all existing X58 motherboards.

Upgrading to one of these is not going to be a cheap affair, of course. Today we've set out to compare a handful of options covering the $250, $500 and $1,000 price ranges, from the Core i7 920 to the freshly released 980X Extreme, which will give you a better idea of what to expect as you move up the LGA1366 ladder.

Sapphire Radeon 5850 Toxic 2GB Review
PureOverclock posted a review of the Sapphire Radeon 5850 Toxic 2GB Edition graphics card

This limited edition Sapphire 5850 Toxic graphics card sports a huge 2GB of memory, up from the usual 1GB. This should help when running antialiasing at higher resolutions, so we'll do exactly that on several very demanding games. But the Toxic also comes with the same impressive Vapor-X technology known for running cool and quiet, we well as a good factory overclock to boot. Gotta love this combination of features.
