NZXT Tempest Review
Bjorn3D takes a look at the NZXT Tempest.

For many enthusiasts venturing into the world of PC building, selecting a case can be quite a challenge these days. Important factors to consider include quality, size, functionality, and now more than ever - style. Well-built enclosures with incredible features are important, but without a bit of flash and beauty, they might as well stay sitting on the warehouse shelf (and probably will!). However, there’s also another aspect of case selection that’s very important to many builders, especially those new to the game – price. Being on something of a strict diet myself when it comes to purchasing new hardware, I certainly appreciate a company that can combine all of the above mentioned features in a single product. Enter NZXT and the Tempest midtower case. Did they pull it off and create a budget-friendly winner? Let’s find out.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Performance Scaling in Modern Games
Digit-Life posted a review on the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Performance Scaling in Modern Games

We decided to find out what parameters affect performance in modern games most of all. Besides, we haven't analyzed how performance is affected by CPU/GPU/video memory clock rates for a long time already. So we decided to test a G92-based graphics card and determine main rendering bottlenecks in modern games.

Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 Dual Channel Memory Kit Review
Bigbruin.com posted a review on the Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 Dual Channel Memory Kit

Testing showed that the Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 dual channel memory kit could put up some solid numbers, keeping pace with another comparable kit from Kingston. At stock speeds this kit is ready for action above and beyond the JEDEC standard speed grade of PC2-8500, and with some relatively easy overclocking it can soar past PC2-9600 speeds.

Nova Winner 3 Mouse Pad Review
Tech-Reviews.co.uk posted Nova Winner 3 Mouse Pad Review

With games becoming more hectic, and requiring faster reflexes, arises the need for outstanding mouse pad surfaces to provide the level of accuracy needed to successfully dismember any enemy stupid enough to come into your line of fire. Nova was established in 1993 and has succeeded in producing outstanding mouse surfaces ever since. One such mouse mat is the Microptic Winner 3. Designed as a successor for the killer 2, offering the same quality surface in a smaller size, it is said to offer "various new innovations, developed especially for gamers". I plan to put this to the test and see how good it can really be.

ATI Radeon HD 3850 256MB Crossfire Reviewed
TheTechLounge posted a review on the ATI Radeon HD 3850 256MB Crossfire video card

We know it'd make more sense to just spend more money on a really fast card, but--two video cards! Given that you can definitely get two 3850s for $300, it seems like a reasonable upgrade option, even though I normally rail pretty hard against mid-range multi-GPU configurations. The main weakness of the 3850 is its clean performance drop when anti-aliasing is enabled. Without that, it really does scream. Will an extra $150 give it that 4xAA shine?

OCZ EliteXStream 1000W Power Supply Review
3D Game Man posted a review on the OCZ EliteXStream 1000W Power Supply

The OCZ EliteXStream 1000W Power Supply distinguishes itself from the many others on the market because it's compact, offers lots of watts and has a single high power +12V rail (80A). A single +12V rail tends to be preferred, especially in a multiple video card setup because all the power is available on a high powered rail and not spread over multiple rails. It's also efficient, has quality power and comes with a quiet 120mm fan. This will be a very sought-after power supply. Watch the video to find out more.

Gigabyte's P45 motherboard plug-fest
The Tech Report posted a preview of the P45 motherboard line

Last week, Gigabyte invited a gaggle of international journalists to a "plug-fest" preview of its P45 motherboard line in Taipei, Taiwan. Intel has yet to formally introduce the P45 Express, but given the success of the P35 chipset, we were naturally eager to get a glimpse of its successor. Gigabyte had no less than five different P45 models on display, including a new Extreme board that may well live up to its name, at least as far as overclocking is concerned. The company also unveiled a number of new features that will be spread throughout its P45 family, including an improved version of its Dynamic Energy Saver software, trusted computing compatibility, and a driver-free hardware RAID solution that uniquely combines multiple auxiliary storage controllers. Keep reading for the goods on Gigabyte's upcoming P45 products.

ThermoLab Nano Silencer CPU Cooler Review
TweakTown posted a review on the ThermoLab Nano Silencer CPU Cooler

I recently looked at the ThermoLab Micro and found it to be an energy efficient processor-only cooler that was designed for small enclosures. Today we are going to look at the ThermoLab Nano, an even smaller cooler made for the same type of application; extremely small enclosures and cases.

Before you start to yawn I will go ahead and say upfront that the Nano performed better than the Micro, even though it is a smaller cooler and fan. What is really attention getting is the size of the cooler and the custom applications that modders will be able to use with it.

Lian-Li PC V1010 Case Review
ThinkComputers.org posted Lian-Li PC V1010 Case Review

I liken Lian-Li to the Mercedes-Benz of the chassis design world. The Taiwan-based company designs its chassis with sleek, conservative style and hand-builds cases out of lightweight, yet durable aluminum. The chassis are generally not flashy, but are very, very conducive for high-performance cooling while overclocking. Lian-Li recently renewed its V series line-up with five new cases: PC-V2110, PC-V2010, PC-V1110, PC-V1000Z, and the focus of this review, the PC-V1010. ThinkComputers goes inside the Lian-Li PC-V1010 chassis in this review.

Foxconn GeForce 9800GTX Review
OCC has published a new review on the Foxconn GeForce 9800GTX

The good news is that the Foxconn 9800 GTX does indeed provide a nice bit of headroom above the stock clockspeeds of 685MHz on the GPU core and 1100MHz on the memory. So if you look at the final results as a percentage, the overclocking results are pretty impressive. The increase on the GPU core came in at 152MHz, or about 18.5%, and the increase in the memory speed amount came to 116MHz, or just over 9%. The performance potential is there, you just have to go look for it. At this point, Nvidia's driver package does not allow for the fan speeds to stay at 100% when manually changed. Having tried several utilities to do this, the results just did not stick. So maximizing the overclocking capability will mean requirig that driver issue be resolved.
