Gamershell posted ForceWare 163.44 beta drivers for Windows XP and Windows Vista

Just a few hours before the hot demo, NVIDIA released ForceWare 163.44 for Windows XP and Windows Vista, bringing improved compatibility for BioShock and PureVideo HD decode acceleration for GeForce 8600, 8500 and 8400 series GPUs (for Windows XP). These are beta drivers, but in case you wish to play the BioShock demo without any problems, then we'd recommend you install them, as we've heard there's a nasty problem on some configurations (with old drivers), which may cause the demo to crash. We've also added a list with the supported video cards, so be sure you check it before downloading the driver you need. You'll probably be happy to find out these drivers also fix the SLI BSOD problem.

OCModShop posted a game review on Overlord for the Windows PC

Overlord is an adventure-RPG with solid fundamentals, beautiful graphics and tons of innovative features. But above all, its packed with humor and is quite simply a blast to play.

The game begins as a new and fairly weak Evil Overlord, controlled in a third-person view throughout the game. First off, you have to get yo ur home tower operational, and then its time to recruit an army of cackling minions to do your bidding. You do so by killing sheep, bugs, enemies and so forth, then capturing their life force which works as a currency for spawning more minions.

Techdomain has a new review - Depths of Peril Review

Today we take a look at something that has the potential to be a fresh outlook on the slightly tired RPG scene. Does Depths of Peril live up to its promise, or is it another clone that will end up gathering dust on your HDD? Also, before I get to mention it, we have a demo release available, so you can get your hands on that too!

Neoseeker published a review of Intel's E2140 & E2160 CPU's

Intel is now gunning for the dual core low end now, an area currently dominated by the AMD 3600 X2 and 4200 X2 processors. With the excellent microarchitecture of the Core 2 Duo, Intel is betting on the E2140 and E2160 still performing better than the low end AMD parts; basically betting that the microarchitecture will overcome the crippling effect of the 800MHz FSB that the E21xx series are targeted for.

3D Game Man posted a review on the SOYO DYLM24D6 24" LCD Monitor

The SOYO DYLM24D6 24" LCD Monitor is a no-frills display that has excellent color, brightness, contrast and sharp text quality in an affordable package. This display is lacking many of the connections you would find in higher priced monitors though. There are no HDMI, S-Video, Component connections, but it does have an analog VGA and DVI connection. If you are on a budget and need an excellent display for your computer, I would strongly recommend you check it out. Watch the video to find out more and check out the bloopers at the end.

OCC has published a new review of the AMD 6000+ AM2 X2 Processor

If you are looking for performance out of the box and the AMD 6000+ wasn't recommended then whom ever it was that gave you the advice was truly making a mistake. The 6000+ is less expensive than its Intel counterparts has a higher clock speed right out of the box and performs within a margin of error in most benchmarks, even though it has half the L2 cache and only has a FSB of 200 MHz opposed to Intels 266 and 333 MHz. So if you are an end user looking for performance and price this should not be overlooked.

Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the SOYO ST-SYLA04 FreeStyler 600 BlueTooth Mono Headset

Everyday I see more people talking on cell phones with wireless hands-free devices, but the days of having a wire attached to your phone to have a hands free conversation are almost gone. Now Bluetooth headsets are the choice of many for hands-free solutions, as a matter of fact I can’t remember the last time I saw someone with a wire attached to their cell phone. Most people have retired their wires and now just talk on their phones or use Bluetooth headsets. Introducing the FreeStyler 600 Bluetooth V2.0 headset, SOYO has made a product that is easy to use and is compatible with any Bluetooth enabled cell phone. Currently, the majority of newer cell phones are equipped to handle Bluetooth devices, making Bluetooth hands-free headsets an option for most. In this review, SOYO’s Freestyle 600 headset is examined.

TrustedReviews have looked at the Sony VAIO VGN-CR11Z/R

Overall the CR11Z/R, and the whole CR series, is another excellent example of Sony design and quality. Fine, it's not the cheapest out there but then nothing in this class looks or feels quite as good, which adds its own sense of value beyond that of simply specs and raw speed.

Bit-Tech published a gameplay review of BioShock

For all the fancy gameplay elements and attention to detail though, BioShock is still a game about a story. There's no multiplayer side which will give the game extra life either, so the story is doubly important.

Talking about the game's story is something made incredibly difficult thanks to the spoiler-free nature of this article, but you don't need to worry and we won't give in to the over-whelming urge to tell all. Let it only be said that the game's over-arching plot is full of twists, turns and emotional grab you by the short and curlies then yank you out of your chair moments.

The story, which is told in first person by an utterly silent narrator, is told not just through cutscenes either. Audio logs litter the ruins of Rapture, just as in System Shock 2 or the much less inspiring Doom 3.

Tweaknews.net posted a review on the Antec P182 Performance One Elite Computer Case

With the P182 chassis, Antec has proved that, “If it ain't broke, you can probably still fix it!” They've taken the proven P180 chassis, gotten rid of a few superfluous features, added some very nice convenience and appearance features and kept the quiet cooling performance that made the P180 such a great case. The new look, with its gun-metal gray panels is a big improvement and the cable management features are a welcome improvement over the original.

XYZ Computing posted a review on the ThinkPad T61p notebook

People who demand more from their notebook than an internet connection, a screen, and a keyboard and who are less concerned about weight can get a surprising amount of power from the right machine. Today's processors and large amounts of RAM can be combined with high resolution displays to make for notebooks that have all the power you would need yet is still able to be moved around. The notebook we will be looking at in this article is the ThinkPad T61p from Lenovo. This is the high performance version of the ThinkPad T61, the first notebook from Lenovo to use Intel's Santa Rosa platform. The T61p is essentially an upgraded version of the T61 with certain options that are mandatory and a number of performance benefits over the rest of the ThinkPad line. This is the most powerful ThinkPad currently available- and ever released- so it's been highly awaited by tech professionals and all sorts of demanding mobile users.

I4U NEWS reviews the Hitachi P50S601 50 inch Full HD Ultravision Plasma HDTV

With great image quality, multiple HD and SD component inputs and a motorized swiveling stand the P50S601 HDTV from Hitachi is one of the best HDTV sets that I have tested. A built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner combines digital and analog channels into on e tuner. Hitachi also provides three customized settings for each input that allows you to match the picture to the viewing environment. This allows for a brighter picture during the day when the viewing environment tends to be brighter and a dimmer display at night when not as much brightness is needed.

Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the ePower Technology EP-1200P10 xScale 1200W PSU

It was almost a year ago when Benchmark Reviews first witnessed 1.0 kilowatt power supply units on the market. Around that same time, people were testing their SLi and CrossFire setups, and with rumor of Quad-SLi later becoming a reality it seemed like everyone would be using this much power into the future. Looking back, I am thankful the motherboard manufacturers essentially killed this idea, since it really seems rediculous to need four video cards for anything. But for those who live and die by the virtual sword (gaming), there are cost-friendly solutions such as the ePower Technology EP-1200P10 xScale 1200W PSU.

Tech ARP has posted an editorial about the upcoming Intel 45 nm Processors

Intel synchronizes their processor strategy on a tick-tock system. Just like clockwork, Intel switches between architectural changes and improvements in process technology every two years or so. In other words, we can count on a new microarchitecture and process technology from Intel every 4-5 years. The tick phase heralds a new architecture, or at least an improved one. That would be like the introduction of the Core microarchitecture in 2006.

Steven Rosenberg published a review on Puppy Linux 2.16

Everybody loves a new Puppy. And those behind the Puppy Linux distro are happy to oblige, releasing a new version every couple of months. For the user or reviewer, it's a lot to keep up with. Luckily, upgrading is as easy as popping in a new CD. Puppy excels as a live-CD Linux distribution, and for those who want to run it in a "frugal" install to a hard drive, upgrading is as easy as copying a few new files. For traditional hard drive installs (recommended for low RAM), you have to reinstall the whole system, but just like with Damn Small Linux, even that process is quick, easy and intuitive. Or you can choose not to upgrade and stay with the Puppy that works for you.
