Antec Performance One - P180B Review
C.O.D. put up an Antec Performance One - P180B review

Having been around the block a few times, and having been burned a few times; I have my preferences in chassis'. I have purchased and used a ton of cases and always seem to go back to my Lian Li PC-70 series chassis. There has been little innovation in this sector and it seems like manufacturers are trying to woo us with fancy designs and forgetting about the simple features that we should have to begin with. There are cases out there that look like malformed bubbles, cases that look like transformers, cases with bubbled water, and my personal favorite the cases that look like "Hello Kitty" (sarcasm). It is refreshing when some case manufacturers get back to the basics and give us usable features and practical designs. Antec claims they can give me hope once again. Enter the Antec Performance Series P180B.

NZXT Trinity case Review
Modders-Inc has a new review online on the NZXT Trinity case

While looking at the NZXT Trinity I liked the shade of metal parts. It was not a chrome or a charcoal, they had a goldish color to them. The door was not huge/heavy. Personally I like short fat cases but this is the first taller case that I have liked. Windows, I usually do not care for them but this one looked like it could withstand a little abuse. The fan grills on the side I usually don't care for either, but with the mesh it gave it the extra POP that it needed

Antec TruePower Trio 650 Power Supply Review
Pro-Clockers published a review on the Antec TruePower Trio 650 Power Supply

Antec has a long tradition of producing some of the finest cases and power supplies. We have seen some timeless classics like the SLK series of cases to the newest Lifestyle and Performance line. Their power supplies have been used by many overclockers and games, like myself. Just recently Antec has announced something that speaks well about their power supplies; they have given all their new power supplies a five year warranty. This will add assurance to an already great product.

One line of power supplies that this applies to is the new True Power TRIO that has replaced the aged True Power 2 line. The TRIO sports a few major differences compared to the TP 2. For one, it boasts triple 12 volt rails as well as dual PCI-e connector. These are just a few of the things a person would look for in a PSU. Let's find out what more the TRIO has to offer.

ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 Review
OCW published a review on the ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 motherboard

ASRock's ALiveXfire-eSATA2 is the first AM2 board from ASRock that uses ATi chipset. ASRock never fail to shock us by their innovation. Never did I expect them to pair up an older RD480 with the newest SB600 from ATi for CrossFire solution!. On the ALiveXFire-eSATA2, the ATi RD480+SB600 pair is used to support dual PCIe x8 for CrossFire or single PCIe x16.

This board supports Dual 8x PCIe for CrossFire, DC-DDR2-533/667/800, GbE, 4 SATA II with 2 can be paired up for eSATA connection. It has HDMI_SPDIF header to provide audio thru the HDMI VGA card. It also has 7.1 HD audio and attained the Windows Vista Premium Hardware Ready and can run Windows MCE. It is also AMD ALive! Ready!

With AMD+ATI merger, it would mean that AMD will pay more emphasis to give more support to the ATi chipsets. ASRock can foresee the market paradigm shifting towards ATi and come out with this latest board ALiveXFire-eSATA.

HTPC on the Cheap: Intervideo's HomeTheater
OCModShop.com take a look at Intervideo's HomeTheater

Some of us find ourselves without a signed and stamped Windows Media Center Edition PC. At least, that's the situation I find myself in. Without built-in features like TV-tuning and remote control, I am left to search for third-party solutions. Intervideo wants to help and offers one solution, the broadly named Home Theater package that claims to "Turn your PC into an entertainment center" by helping you watch TV, DVDs and other videos while listening to music and viewing pictures. And no, not all at the same time.

Foxconn GeForce 7900 GS video card Review
Elite Bastards posted a Foxconn GeForce 7900 GS (FV-N79SM2D2) video card review

The GeForce 7900 GS is (unsurprisingly) based around the 90 nanometre G71 architecture that powers the rest of the GeForce 7900, and indeed 7950, series of NVIDIA parts. However, the GeForce 7900 GS is the first part released by NVIDIA that uses a cut-down version of the core - While the rest of the range enjoys a full twenty-four fragment pipelines (or six fragment quads) coupled with eight vertex shaders, the 7900 GS finds itself with one quad of pipelines disabled (leaving it with a grand total of twenty) as well as a single vertex shader turned off, giving it seven in total. Naturally, this configuration allows NVIDIA to use cores which have come out of the manufacturing process with faulty fragment pipelines or vertex shaders, thus meaning that less dies are wasted thanks to the built-in redundancy in these chips.

Aside from the disabled fragment pipelines and vertex shader, the GeForce 7900 GS is identical in every other way to the GeForce 7900 GT, meaning that it comes complete with a 256-bit memory bus carrying 256MB of RAM, 16 ROPs, and core and memory clock speeds of 450MHz and 660MHz respectively.

Samsung Q1 UMPC Review
OCW posted a review on the Samsung Q1 UMPC

If you are a person who always travel for business, you would probably be carrying a notebook and a PDA. The reason being the PDA screen is too small and a 14" notebook might just be fine yet clumsy to carry around. Imagine slinging a notebook carrying 2.5kg on the average while visiting exhibitions?

UMPC - Ultra mobile PC, is a new kind of computer. It combines the power of Windows XP with mobile-ready technologies that make it easy to access and use your software on the go. With small, lightweight, carry-everywhere hardware designs, you can connect and communicate, accomplish any task anywhere and at any time, and be entertained and informed wherever life takes you.

In terms of video playback, the image quality is acceptable for a 7" screen. If you don't like it, you can always plug it to a LCD or CRT. The playback of the multimedia clips did not hog the system at all. The sound level is also loud enough for your friends crowding you to enjoy the movie together. It might be good to incorporate a webcam on the unit so that users can see each other using MSN or SKYPE.

SIP vs. Skype: Making the "Open" Choice
MadPenguin.org looked at SIP and Skype

Over the past few months, I have found myself conflicted as I have time and again found myself perplexed in an effort to locate a good quality VoIP option for my Linux box. It's been my experience that many Linux purists will expect you to be using some sort of SIP soft phone, and frankly balk at the very idea of running Skype on their systems. After doing a little research, I’m beginning to understand why.

Sapphire Radeon X1300 XT Overclocked Edition 256Meg Videocard Review
Tweaknews posted a review on the Sapphire Radeon X1300 XT Overclocked Edition 256Meg Videocard

When Sapphire first contacted me to review this X1300XT, I'll have to admit I was not looking forward to it. All my previous budget videocard reviews have been predictably slow and boring to review. This card to say the least has been a surprise. Think of this lower end and cost effective option to be that little kid in your neighborhood that you have picked on only once, had your ass kicked and learned your lesson. That is what this card has done to me. I underestimated it.
