Leadtek PxVC1100 MPEG-2/H.264 Transcoding Card Review
Legit Reviews posted a review on the Leadtek PxVC1100 MPEG-2/H.264 Transcoding Card

The WinFast PxVC1100 is an MPEG-2/H.264 transcoding card developed by Leadtek and features the Toshiba high-performance stream processor SpursEngine. The WinFast PxVC1100 has four Synergistic Processing Element (SPE) cores based on the "Cell Broadband Engine”. Read on to see how this single slot PCI-Express based low profile card does on our Intel Core i7 system!

Compared to even the latest CPU and Graphics hardware, the Spurs Engine held its own. Though testing different encoding/transcoding types and programs can be quite a headache, it’s easy to see that the Leadtek WinFast PxVC1100 is an MPEG-2/H.264 transcoding card can benefit those who do large amounts of this type of work. While there are only a couple of different formats to be used, they process very quickly and have outstanding quality. I have seen a lot of questions about taking SD quality video and converting to an HD format and most are answered with “don’t waste your time because it will be the same quality.” Well with the Spurs Engine, that answer can be thrown out. While taking SD quality video and reaching the quality of an original HD source would be impossible, the content was very clearly much higher quality than the source. Best of all was that this process was quick, encoding at about 20% faster than real time playback...

Synology Disk Station DS409slim NAS Enclosure Review
Futurelooks posted Synology Disk Station DS409slim NAS Enclosure Review

While most NAS enclosures get a little bit on the bulky side of things, the Synology Disk Station DS409 Slim is about as compact as it gets, especially when you consider that it houses four hard drives in total. It also comes with a number of handy features that you may not find elsewhere.

NZXT Cryo S Aluminum Notebook Cooler Review
Bigbruin.com has published a review on the NZXT Cryo S Aluminum Notebook Cooler

What is obvious from the results of the review is that the NZXT Cryo S does help lower your system temperatures. When it comes to electronic components, cooler is always better, so the primary objective of this device was accomplished. What you can not see, and what I found even more impressive, is the difference in comfort provided by the Cryo S.

Neoseeker reviews two motherboards: the Gigabyte P55-UD6 & P55M-UD4

With Lynnfield processors, even the cheapest motherboards perform very similarly to the most expensive ones we have found, so that opens up the battlefield for manufacturers to come up with unique features as selling points.

Patriot Sector 5 2x2GB 2000MHz Cas 8 Review
OCC has published a review on the Patriot Sector 5 2x2GB 2000MHz Cas 8

The Patriot Sector 5 modules hit 2000MHz 8-8-8-24 with ease. Of course, they should since that is the rated speed of the modules. Since the CPU was already pushed to a 200 clock just to get to the 2000MHz rated speed I was not sure just how far I was going to be able to push them above the 2000MHz threshold. 2100MHz was not too difficult, requiring a bump in the IMC voltage up to 1.70 volts to get into Windows and run the benchamrks. To go higher needed some serious tweaking and I ran out of clock before tapping out the Sector 5 modules. 2200MHz at 8-8-8-28 is not bad at all. With the top end tapped out, I went on to check and see just how tight the latencies could be squeezed. What I was greeted with was 7-7-7-24 at 2070MHz with only 1.72 volts.

Vantec NexStar Vault NST-V290S2 2.5-inch HDD Enclosure Review
TweakTown posted a review on the Vantec NexStar Vault NST-V290S2 2.5-inch HDD Enclosure

Portable storage products have come a long way. When the first USB portable drives were launched it was larger than the first Motorola cell phone. Just like cell phones, portable drives have shrank in size, but the features have grown to levels that we would have never thought of just a few years ago.

Vantec recently released their answer for secure portable storage, the NexStar Vault. This portable secure 2.5 inch drive enclosure makes accessing your data easy with its simple to use built in keyboard that allows the drive to unlock your secure data. The drive is divided into two partitions, the open Public side and the secure Vault. The entire system is fairly sneaky; if you didn’t realize what the system was the drive would be plugged in and the public option would be shown with no mention of the private data.

StarTech Dual-SATA HDD Docking Station Review
Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the StarTech Dual-SATA HDD Docking Station

Benchmark Reviews has put a plethora of storage enclosures and systems through their paces and all of the predecessors fell neatly into readily recognizable categories. The StarTech SATADOCK22UE is a horse of a slightly different color offering features that bridge the existing product categories it's neither a case nor storage array, but has the capacity to allow access to single data drives as well as two drives independently or as a RAID array. It's a niche product with stealth appeal for main stream users who think outside the box. The SataDock product line comes in 4 flavors: single drive USB only desktop bay (SATADOCKU2E), single drive USB & eSATA desktop bay (SATADOCKU2), 5.25" Bay Dual Drive eSATA (SATADOCK525) and the top of the line dual drive, dual eSATA desktop dock SATADOCK22UE which we will be reviewing. While no doubt the intended audience for the SataDock product line is mainly corporate or professional PC repair and maintenance organizations, this small wonder has the potential to simplify the lives of a much broader audience if they can related to it's less obvious uses.
