Dekart Private Disk 2.05 – Strong Encryption for USB Flash Disks and Hard Drives

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 04/02/2005 05:38 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

Dekart Private Disk 2.05 has been released:

March, 31 - Dekart (www.dekart.com) announces the release of version 2.05 of Dekart Private Disk, a strong and popular data protection program. Private Disk easily protects your confidential documents by creating virtual encrypted partitions (drive letters). The information is transparently encrypted with AES 256-bit - the strongest encryption algorithm available today. Private Disk has received the highest possible rating at Cnet (5).

Private Disk increases the portability of your data by allowing you to encrypt your information on USB flash disks, CDs, DVDs etc. You can work with the protected data on any computer without installing the software.

What's new in version 2.05:

Specific programs can be automatically launched after a disk is mounted – which means greater convenience for those hiding certain executable applications and using them every day.

The encrypted disks are dismounted when the user becomes inactive - now you don't have to worry about forgetting to lock your PC each time you go on a 5 min break. When left unattended for a defined period of time , the virtual disk will disconnect by itself. This feature significantly reduces the threat of accidental data leakage.
Saves and restores the encrypted disk's shares automatically – if previously defined, the network shares will be automatically restored after the disk is mounted.
Beginning with version 2.05, Dekart Private Disk introduces a multi-license installation scheme, making it easier for the software to be installed and deployed in large multi-user distributed environments. As Private Disk gained more and more popularity, we broadened the range of supported languages by adding Chinese, Portuguese and Swedish interfaces. This makes a great addition to the currently supported 10 European languages.

Private Disk's Features:

Ease of use - designed for users with no knowledge in security, for busy people having no time to mess with encryption. Perfect for daily use.
Intuitive user interface - the system tray menu, the ability to manage multiple disks at the same time, as well as the integration with Windows explorer makes the encryption of proprietary information easy and seamless.
One step data protection - lets users start securing their data immediately, without wasting time on additional learning. Portability - encrypts data on FDD, CD, CD/R, CD/RW, MO, MD, ZIP-disks, flash drives, all types of flash memory cards, handhelds, and digital cameras.
Large encryption capacity - up to 2GB disk size for Windows 95/98/ME and up to 4TB for Windows NT/2000/XP.
Strong encryption - protects your important files and folders from unsolicited viewing with 256-bit AES encryption, the strongest encryption algorithm available today.
