Digital Silence has post an article simply titled "What is DirectX?"
For those old enough to remember DOS gaming, my condolences. While many of those games were a lot of fun, the amount of time wasted on configuration problems was stupefying. DirectX was supposed to eliminate those kinds of problems...but it didn't succeed at first. Digital Silence takes a look at the basics of DirectX and why it was needed. The article also touches on DirectX's past, present and future.
