AMD Adrenalin driver DX9 issues unlikely to be fixed

Games affected include The Witcher EE, various C&C games, and Battle for Middle Earth 1-2. AMD released the major yearly revision to its graphics driver suite back on 12th December. Heralding the arrival of AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition, CEO Lisa Su wrote that it was the firm's biggest release ever, and would provide "a truly outstanding PC experience". Major features introduced included the AMD Link app, Radeon Overlay in game UI, and tweaks and feature boosts for other Radeon driver modules such as Radeon Chill and ReLive.

Geil Super LUCE RGB DDR4 Review

Yet another kit by Geil has crossed my desk, and this one is also for AMD's Ryzen CPUs. This time, we've got big heatsinks and RGB lighting thrown into the mix. Although we've seen many RGB memory kits already, this one has yet another slightly different take on how RGB and memory should mash up together. Plus, it's for Ryzen, and most other kits aren't.

GeIL Super Luce RGB SYNC DDR4-3000 32GB Memory Kit Review

Earlier this year we took a look at GeIL’s Super Luce DDR4 memory. This memory turned out to be really good and we even rewarded it with our Recommended Award. The original Super Luce memory had a single-color light bar at the top. Well we know RGB is all the rage now, so GeIL has released their Super Luce RGB SYNC DDR4 memory. This new memory has an RGB light bar at the top and is compatible with ASUS’s AURA Sync, so you can easily control it with ASUS’s software. Today we will be checking out the GALS432GB3000C16AQC kit which is a 32GB kit running at 3000 MHz with timings of 16.18.18.36 at 1.35V. This kit is also part of the GeIL’s AMD Edition, so these are specifically designed for Ryzen builds. Let’s take a look and see what they are about!

Huge Intel CPU Bug Allegedly Causes Kernel Memory Vulnerability With Up To 30% Performance Hit In Windows And Linux

If the reports are accurate, it appears that Intel might have a pretty severe chip-level security bug on its hands that cannot be simply swatted away with a microcode update. The bug affects all modern Intel processors dating back at least a decade as well as both Windows, Linux and Mac Operating Systems...

Intel Core i7-8809G with AMD RX Vega Graphics appears on Intel website

Intel's first processor with AMD graphics has been listed on the official website. Intel Core i7-8809G The Core i7-8809G is a quad-core processor with a maximum TDP of 100W (CPU+GPU). The package is listed in 'Unlocked Processors' section at Intel website (the direct link to the processor did not work at the time of writing). The solution was listed right next to Core-X and Coffee Lake-S series, however, it seems unlikely that we will be seeing the result of Intel & AMD collaboration in a pure desktop environment in a foreseeable future.

Mining XMR Monero With AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Cards

AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics cards do very well on the CryptoNight proof-of-work algorithm and miners are using them to mine Monero, Electroneum, Sumokoin, Bytecoin and Karbo. This is because the profitability is better on those coins than Ethereum that uses the Ethash proof-of-work algorithm. It’s tough to find an AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics card due to this. You might get lucky and find some in-stock at Amazon or Newegg, but it is tough. If you switch tactics and look for used AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 cards on eBay you’ll quickly find that they are selling for well over $900.

MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon Review

With the Gaming Pro Carbon, MSI has a well equipped mid-range motherboard in its portfolio, which comes with a bunch of interesting features. There are for example two M.2 Gen 3 x4 slots as well as a good looking design. Apart from that this model should feature a rather interesting price.

Plextor M9Pe 512GB & 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD Review

Plextor's M9Pe represents the first retail SSD we've tested with a Toshiba BiCS 3 64-layer TLC flash array. Having already tested Toshiba's OEM XG5, we know that BiCS 3 offers plenty of performance even though it is a TLC product. BiCS brings with it the promise of more affordable and better performing flash-based SSDs in 2018. Third generation BiCS, or BiCS 3 64-layer 3D TLC, was first demonstrated at this year's Dell/EMC World via the XG5. Toshiba feels BiCS flash is superior to others for the following compelling reasons: plextor-m9pe-512gb-1tb-nvme-pcie-ssd-review_99 Of the features listed above, the feature that interests us most is the faster 1-shot programming called "Full Sequence." With Full Sequence programming, three pages can be programmed at the same time resulting in fewer steps. Full Sequence programming delivers better performance and at the same time reduces power consumption. More performance with less power consumption isn't something you see every day. In a mobile environment, power consumption becomes a primary concern which makes BiCS 3 particularly attractive for the ever-expanding world of mobile computing because it is power efficient. Plextor has again partnered with Marvell for their newest NVMe SSD. The M9Pe pairs Marvell's 88SS1093 Gen3 x4 NVMe 8-channel "Eldora" controller with Toshiba BiCS 3 64-layer TLC flash and Plextor's own in-house firmware. The 88SS1093 is the very same NVMe controller that Plextor has used for all of their NVMe SSDs to this point.

Plextor today releases their fast M9Pe 512GB Series M.2 SSDs.
