VIA Hardware has posted a couple of tidbits, both available on their front page.

Apparently, a BIOS update is all thats needed to greatly improve performance on the KT266 platform. We tested a updated BIOS on the reference KT266 with great results, and both Abit and MSI have concurred with our findings.
