Matrox Millennium G550 Review

Design Technica has put up a Matrox Millennium G550 review
The Matrox Millennium G550 is similar in many ways to its predecessor, the G450. While it lacks the 3D performance a hardcore gamer would require, its 2D performance holds its own. The Matrox G550 has 32MB of DDR memory and a RAMDAC clocked at 360 MHz. On paper, this configuration is spectacular; however, the G550 doesn’t live up to assumptions as far as 3D graphics go. In fact, an older 16 MB Voodoo 3 w/TV out performs better in games than the G550 does. Is this a major downside or does Matrox simply not rank 3D gaming support as such a high priority task on their list?
