MicrosoftWatch: Microsoft DoS Attack
Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 08/02/2003 12:51 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
Microsoft Watch has posted a news story on the two-hour outage of Microsoft.com
Redmond said a DoS attack, not a cracker exploit of a much-publicized Windows vulnerability, was behind anearly two-hour outage of Microsoft.com properties.
When the entire set of Microsoft.com properties went down for an hour and 40 minutes Friday afternoon, many-including many at Microsoft-initially feared the worst.
Could crackers have managed to exploit the Windows remote-procedure call vulnerability that everyone-from Microsoft, to CERT, to the Department of Homeland Security-had been warning users about this week?
