February 2002 was a big month for the graphic card market with NVIDIA® announcing the NVIDIA® Geforce 4 family of graphic cards. A range of products to suit
the low cost budget solution to the no holds barred power solution and with that announcement suddenly all eyes and media just wanted to talk NVIDIA®. Initially the NVIDIA® Geforce 4 TI-4600 4400 made its claim and literally took the market by storm by offering the most powerful generation of graphic cards to be released into the mainstream consumer market albeit at a price. Within weeks of the initial media articles the cards were on the retail shelves and all the major manufacturers were quick to capitalize on the demand and even the top tier motherboard manufacturers suddenly reported increased demands for video card products.
