The model in for testing today isn’t exactly a direct evolution of the Alloy FPS, though it does carry over a similar style. We’ve now got dedicated media controls, along with a volume-roller, a novel new light-strip along the top of the keyboard, handy buttons for lighting and gaming controls and a wrist rest for added comfort. On paper, the additions certainly sound good, and at only £20 more than the Alloy FPS, it seems to represent good value.

Project Build Iris – Part 2

So last week I went into detail on the case, power supply, and the fans I went with in Iris. Those are cool, but it’s the components inside that determine how fast the computer is going to be. So today I’m going to go over the “go fast” goodies so to speak. I will talk about the reasoning on the motherboard and CPU and what else is going with it. Considering that my wife ends up playing more games than I do, making sure this build was extremely fast was important. I don’t need her getting angry at me when her games don’t work!

Sound BlasterX AE-5 Pro Gaming Sound Card Review

It’s hard not to feel like the stand alone sound card is a bit of a relic in today’s world of feature rich enthusiast motherboards. High end motherboards like my GA-X99 Gaming 7 come with swappable OP-AMPs and a pretty killer onboard Creative Sound Core3D quad-core audio processor.
