The Best Case Scenario has a new news article on a TBCS Custom Test Rig

Paul Capello is at it again. This time it is not one of his world class case mods....no, it's a custom test rig for benchmarking and reviews. What is this you may ask?....it is sort of like a computer case, but it has no front, back, or sides. They are used to benchmark harware for the purpose of reviews. They allow easy access to all of the components of the system so that you don't have to dig around through a real computer case to change parts out....in other words it makes the reviewers life easier.

The subject came up a couple weeks ago about what equipment TBCS would need for it's benchmarking setup. I was tasked with coming up with a list of items I felt I could not live without. Well one of the items on the list was a testbed rig. I showed the guys a few of the testbeds I had looked at previously. Paul would have nothing to do with them...as a matter of fact he laughed me right off of Skype. "Are you crazy Dante? $139 for a test rig?......yeah right. I could build one of those for $30

Well...here we are today $30 worth of materials, and $900 worth of labor later and the test rig looks awesome. Made from two pieces of 1/2" MDF and laminated with .0040 Styrene sheet, aluminum square tubing, and a a number of custom features this rig is being built to last. No detail of the rig has been compromised. From what I can see the quality is top notch and well worth the extra $900. But enough from me...have a look for yourself...TBCS Custom Test Rig....all $930 of it.
