Pioneer Electronics, famous for their hi-fi and home theater components such as the prestigious Pioneer Elite line of receivers and DVD players has also ventured into making optical drives for the computer industry. Their slot loading CD drives are a hit among various OEM manufacturers such as Compaq and have been used in their systems for quite sometime. The latest Pioneer optical drive to hit the market is their DVD-106S DVD/CD-ROM drive which also features the same slot loading mechanism found on the other Pioneer models.
