A while back Plextor announced that they had released a “Shock Proof” portable hard drive. This hard drive consists of a 2.5” laptop hard drive inside an aluminum case. The aluminum case is protected by a silicon outer shell that is designed to absorb the bumps and jars of everyday usage. We recently had a chance to play around with this drive and have kicked things up a notch in our latest review. We take and punish this drive as we drop it from 6’ onto concrete and tether it to a pickup for a spin around the parking lot at speeds of up to 25MPH. Surely it will be destroyed right? Take a look as we even have some video posted of the destruction. Incredibly, this drive (mostly) survives our testing.
