Dan´s Data has posted a review on the PM-32 and BackFlip Pocketmail Devices.

PocketMail is a service that lets you send and receive e-mail - and send faxes, even - from any old voice phone. Mobile, landline, payphone, PABX, it doesn´t matter. All you need to access the service is a "PocketMail Device", and I´ve checked out two - the Oregon Scientific PM-32, and the BackFlip for Palm, that adds PocketMail features to various Palm organisers.

You´d think an e-mail system that used an acoustic coupler (!) would be a gimcrack solution, but PocketMail actually works better than any other mobile mail solution you can get at the moment, I think. And it´s pretty cheap, too.
